What it does, and what it does not
Plaque is soft and forms every day. Tartar is plaque that has mineralised onto the tooth, and once it is hard, nothing you sprinkle on food will take it off — that is a scaler in a veterinary clinic. This powder works one step earlier, on the plaque, before it turns into the thing you can see.

Formula and routine details
Sodium hexametaphosphate binds calcium in saliva. Plaque needs that calcium to mineralise, so binding it is what slows the hardening step. Ascophyllum nodosum is a brown seaweed fed daily rather than applied to the tooth; it is the ingredient with the most published work behind this use in dogs. The rest of the panel supports the mouth environment rather than the tooth surface.

The serving is the same for every size of dog: two scoops, four grams, once a day with a meal. It is a food topper, not a paste, so nothing goes near the teeth directly and nobody has to hold a mouth open. Mix it into something moist; sprinkled over dry kibble it settles to the bottom of the bowl.
Getting it accepted

Breath is the thing owners notice first, because it responds to the bacterial side of the mouth rather than to anything mineral. Whether new tartar builds more slowly is a question about months, not weeks, and the honest way to answer it is a photograph of the same tooth on the same day each month. Existing tartar will still be there, because this product was never going to remove it.
A dog that is already dropping food, chewing on one side, pawing at the mouth, or has visibly red gums has a problem this cannot reach. Loose teeth, a broken tooth, or a bad smell that arrived suddenly are all reasons to book an appointment rather than to start a supplement. Daily care is for the mouth you want to keep in its current state, not for the one that needs fixing.

The first four weeks
Daily oral care does not announce itself. Owners who can tell whether anything changed are the ones who noted where they started.

Repeat all three on day 30. Comparing two photographs is far more reliable than remembering.
What it actually costs
One 120 g tub holds 30 daily servings. This is what a single day costs, which is the figure to hold next to whatever you are using now.
$0.97
Per dayAt the full 2-scoop (4 g) serving, which is the same for every size of dog. Follow the package directions or your veterinarian's advice.
Before you begin
No. Hardened tartar comes off with veterinary scaling and nothing else. This works on plaque, before it mineralises.
No. Brushing physically disrupts plaque; a topper changes the chemistry around it. If your dog tolerates a brush, keep brushing and use this alongside.
Most owners look at week two to four. If nothing has changed by then, stop, and mention the smell to your vet — sudden bad breath can point at a tooth rather than at hygiene.
Do not use it. The lysozyme in this formula is egg-derived and it is on the label for that reason.
No. Two scoops for every size. The seaweed works through the saliva, so it is not dosed by body weight the way a joint supplement is.
Yes. They act on different things and share no ingredients. Mix both into the same meal.
